The TBU Technology Transfer Center in Zlín (TTC) implemented the following seminars for students and staff of TBU in Zlín in 2024:
Based on the Implementation Plan of the Strategic Plan of TBU in Zlín for the period 21+ for the year 2024, an educational seminar “Exploitation of information – a necessary condition for the success of research and development and technology transfer” was held on October 22, 2024, attended by 50 participants. On November 19, 2024, a seminar “Commercialization of research and development results from a legal and economic perspective” was held, which was attended by 33 participants.
The TTC team held an educational seminar “Intellectual Property as a Marketing Tool” for students of the Faculty of Computer Science, TBU in Zlín. The seminar took place on December 4, 2024, at the Faculty of Computer Science, and a total of 33 students participated in the seminar.
Polymers and technologies in the context of sustainable development, that was the main topic of the PLASTKO 2024 conference, which took place on April 17-18, 2024, at Tomas Bata University (TBU) in Zlín in the premises of the Faculty of Humanities on Štefánikova Street. The event has been taking place since 2008, it is a traditional conference organized by the TBU University Institute, the Technology Transfer Centre and the Centre for Polymer Systems, together with the Plastics Cluster z.s., and included almost 200 participants. The main topic of the conference was eco-innovation in the field of plastics production with the aim of introducing the professional public to current trends in the field, sharing good practice and establishing cooperation between businesses and academia. Significant attention was also paid to legislation related to plastic recycling and ecological transformation, which is really a current topic for both research and practice.
During the two days, a lot of very interesting lectures were held, presenting novelties and trends in the plastics sector. The results of research and development in the scientific and commercial spheres were also discussed. As part of the PLASTKO 2024 conference, the TTC team gave a lecture entitled “The impact of innovation transfer and protected intellectual property on the development of university-practice cooperation”. The event also included poster presentations, and all contributions presented at the conference were published as an electronic collection.
In 2024, TBU in Zlín, through the Technology Transfer Center, participated in the 5th year of the TRANSFERA TECHNOLOGY DAY 2024 competition, organized by the Transfera.cz association. One of technologies being nominated for the final was created by TBU (UNI, CPS and FORTES interactive s.r.o. – Transparent films for antimicrobial protection of touchscreens). The researchers who created it received the “TRANSFERA TECHNOLOGY DAY 2024 Finalist” Certificate, which is a sign of quality and will help with its utilization in practice, visibility and securing future financial support.
The aim of the event was to connect Czech science and technology resources with the business community and create suitable conditions for the cooperation each with other.
TBU in Zlín also participated in the competition for the INNOVATION OF THE YEAR 2024 Award, which has been announced regularly since 1996 by the Association of Innovative Entrepreneurship of the Czech Republic. The main Innovation Award of 2024 was awarded to the project “Throwing Chair for Disabled Athletes” as an output of the GAMA project, called Commercialization at Tomas Bata University in Zlín I. The said project was funded by the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic. This project for TBU was acquired by the Technology Transfer Center, which also contributed to the transfer of knowledge created from research into practice. The throwing chair has its licensee, MVDr. Luboš Moravec, and the License Agreement is valid until 19. 6. 2027.
In 2023, the Technology Transfer Center implemented the following seminars for students and employees of TBU in Zlín:
On 24 October 2023, an educational seminar “Optimization of intellectual property management of TBU in Zlín in terms of ensuring its powerful legal protection and effective commercialization” was held on 24 October 2023 on the ground of the implementation of the Strategic Intention of the University 21+ and the Activity of the Plan of Realization of the Strategic Intention of TBU for 2023. The seminar was attended by 41 participants. On 14 November 2023, another seminar “Resolution of intellectual property disputes” was held with 30 participants.
The TTC team also held an educational seminar “Protection of intellectual property and settlement of disputes” for students of FMK TBU in Zlín. The seminar took place on 22 November 2023 at the FMK and a total of 29 students took part in the seminar.
TTC also plays an important role in impact of TBU in Zlín onto the region’s activities. Operation of TTC is directed to the field of applied research, protection of industrial rights, technology transfer and use of innovation. TTC is an important link between TBU and industrial practice. Professional and consulting services of TTC can be used by TBU employees as well as by companies and entrepreneurs in the region. In 2023, TUB in Zlín, through the Technology Transfer Center, participated in the IV. of the TRANSFERA TECHNOLOGY DAY 2023 competition, which was organized by the Transfera.cz association, which the TBU in Zlín is a member of through TTC. Two technologies created by the Tomas Bata University in Zlín (UNI, CPS) were nominated for the finals (UNI, CPS); their solvers received the Certificate “Finalist of TRANSFER TECHNOLOGY DAY 2023”, which is a sign of quality and will help with their application in practice, visibility and securing future financial support. TBU in Zlín, through TTC, also participated in the competition for the INNOVATION OF THE YEAR 2023 Award, which has been announced regularly since 1996 by the Association of Innovative Business of the Czech Republic. The Innovation of the Year 2023 Honorary Award went to the Volleyball ball, whose construction and design proposal was created with the support of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic as part of the comprehensive Commercialization project at the Tomas Bata University in Zlín II (TP01010006). This project for TBU was won by the Center for Technology Transfer, which also contributed to the transfer of knowledge created from research to production. The company GALA a.s. Prostějov became the manufacturer of the Volleyball ball, based on the Agreement for assignment of the rights between TBU in Zlín and GALA a.s
