Footwear Research Centre Gave a Presentation at the “Shoemakers Are Alive” Event

This year, the Footwear Research Centre took part in the event called “SHOEMAKERS ARE ALIVE or THE Saints Crispin and Crispinian IN THE MUSEUM”, which is organized annually by the Museum of Southeast Moravia in Zlín. This event is focused on the tradition of city of Zlín as a centre of excellence for footwear. At this exhibition, many interesting areas focusing on the footwear sector were on view, such as the display entitled “The Bata Principle”, traditional and industrial shoe production, the current development in footwear as well as popular trends in footwear, demonstrations of foot examinations and advice on healthy footwear, or an opportunity to visit real production facilities in cooperation with the Alumni Club of the Bata School of Work.

The Footwear Research Centre presented not only the accredited degree course in “Production and Design of Footwear” but also outputs from completed and currently implemented research projects, such as vegan footwear, biodegradable materials, use of 3D printing for testing of materials and their subsequent application in the footwear production, individual approach and research in the field of footwear such as foot scanning and the subsequent evaluation of the data acquired and of the condition of the foot, or the possibility of design and production of lasts.
