Representatives of Baťa Management Visit the Footwear Research Centre

On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Charles Pignal, great-grandson of Tomáš Baťa, and Panos Mitaros, Global CEO of Baťa, visited the Footwear Research Centre. They toured the building and laboratories of the Science and Technology Park at the University Institute. They were introduced to ongoing research projects, such as the development of energy and composite materials for advanced technologies related to electrochemical energy storage. Another area is comprehensive diagnostics and consulting for proper foot function and posture, with tailored solutions provided by the Musculoskeletal Diagnostics Laboratory, emphasizing public health. Research is also being conducted on the preparation of matrices for advanced bio-composite systems, such as polymer gels made from synthetic and natural biocompatible and biodegradable polymers, which can be applied in medicine. The Baťa representatives showed the greatest interest in the use of new advanced biocompatible and biodegradable polymers. In this area, the research focuses not only on technological solutions but also on life cycle assessment and other socio-economic aspects.
