General Assembly meeting of the SMHYLES Horizon Europe project
5. February 2026On 4 February 2026, the General Assembly meeting of the SMHYLES Horizon Europe project was held at Tomas Bata University in Zlín, marking a key milestone at the project’s mid-term. The meeting reviewed progress achieved in the development of the demonstration sites selected for hybrid energy storage systems in Portugal and Germany, with discussions highlighting significant advances in system integration, operational design, and readiness for validation activities. “As the hosting partner, Tomas Bata University in Zlín played a central role in steering discussions on sustainability assessment and contributed through its activities as the lead for Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA),” says Dr. Pechancová, UTB’s project lead. The discussions reaffirmed the importance of systematically integrating life cycle assessment (LCA) perspectives alongside technical performance as the SMHYLES project enters its second implementation phase.
