Centre of Polymer Systems Has Joined the Project of Ecological Transformation in the Danube Region
5. June 2024A research unit of Tomas Bata University in Zlín, the Centre of Polymer Systems (CPS), has confirmed its position among the top units focusing on polymer sciences in the Central Europe. The Centre has been – based on the results achieved up to date – invited to join an international research consortium that will deal with the analysis of and search for joint solutions regarding the issues of implementing ecological procedures in plastics production.
The cooperation is supported by the Interreg Danube programme, which brings together partners from the industrial and application sphere from the Danube regions. The Centre of Polymer Systems is the only Czech university involved in the project. Together with the CPS, the Plastics Cluster also joined the project.
A total of 14 partner institutions from 9 European Union (EU) countries are involved in the project, whose aim is to prepare the Transnational Action Plan for the integration of the circular economy into the entire value chain of the plastics industry in the Danube region. The Plan has the ambition to be an auxiliary tool for systematic changes not only in the plastics processing industry, but also in the field of engineering production focused on the supply of equipment for the plastics industry. The main objective of the changes is to reduce the carbon footprint of this key value chain in partner countries and outside them, thereby contributing towards a cleaner environment in the Danube region.
The implementation period of the project, co-funded by the European Union, is January 2024 to June 2026.
