The Centre Cooperates with Scientists from Poland

The Footwear Research Centre was visited by representatives of the Institute of Leather Industry (Łukasiewicz Research Network) based in Poland. This institution conducts scientific and research activities in the field of footwear, offering a number of specific areas, e.g. testing of upper and bottom materials, shoe components, innovative and applied technologies, development of the human foot and its measurement, construction and safety features of shoes with an emphasis on the health aspects of the user, to name but a few.

In the course of their visit, representatives of the organization got acquainted with the Footwear Research Centre (FRC), namely with the specific areas of the Centre’s focus, but also with other closely cooperating units such as the Centre of Polymer Systems and the Technology Transfer Centre.

The matters discussed during the meeting included joint programme contents, simultaneously running and planned scientific and research plans. Specific areas of research that both institutions want to focus on in future were identified. “With new, innovative solutions emerging, for example processing materials with specific, functional and end-use properties, but also new approaches to the shoe construction, the footwear sector has been experiencing many changes in the recent years. Finding a new partner is undoubtedly a big plus, not only from the point of view of sharing and comparing research results, but also for collaboration on the implementation of joint project plans,” said Ing. Tomáš Sáha, Ph.D., Director of the Footwear Research Centre.

“The visit to the Footwear Research Centre of Tomas Bata University in Zlín was very inspiring for us. We learned a lot of interesting things, got to know the role of the FRC and saw the ongoing project plans. We are happy to hear about the concrete proposals regarding further cooperation between the FRC and our institution, which can undoubtedly produce new interesting solutions,” said Joanna Kwiecień, one of the Polish researchers.
