
Regional Assembly of the Association of Local Governments of the Czech Republic of the Zlín Region took place in Babice.

June 2025On June 13, 2025, the Regional Assembly of the Association of Local Governments of the Czech Republic of the Zlín Region took place in the Cultural Center in Babice in the Uherskohradišť region. The event was attended by representatives of municipalities, experts and important guests from public administration and partner organizations.
The assembly was opened by introduction words of the mayor of Babice Mgr. Martina Horňáková, Bc. Ladislava Hradilíková, DiS., chairwoman of the Local Governments of the Czech Republic of the Zlín Region. Thereafter also Mgr. Oldřich Vávra was speaking, as vice-chairwoman of the of Local Governments of the Czech Republic. In the introduction, current information from the life of the of Local Governments of the Czech Republic was presented, including the status of financing non-pedagogues, the amendment to the association of municipalities and news in the field of the environment.
The program focused on key topics of municipal development – for example, the possibilities of developing renewable energy sources in municipalities (lectured by Mgr. Jiří Vašek and Ing. Ondřej Brudík from CEZ Renewable Resources), effective weather forecasting for municipalities (Ing. David Šaur, Ph.D. from the Faculty of Applied Informatics, TBU), legislative issues of water supply connections and digital technical maps (Mgr. Dominik Hrubý, legislative analyst of Local Governments of the Czech Republic), or a proposal for a loan system for small municipalities in need (Mgr. Tomáš Chmela).
During the morning break, the Minister for Regional Development, Ing. Petr Kulhánek, visited the attendees.
The next part of the program focused on financing international cooperation between municipalities (Lenka Simanová, Office of the Government of the Czech Republic), handling church property (Ing. Jana Fládrová, Archbishopric of Olomouc) and the issue of insufficient mobile signal coverage (Viktor Filip, Cetin). During the program, Ing. Radim Holiš, Governor of the Zlín Region, made a salutation.
In the end, Tomas Bata University presented the rich offer of its services and activities of the Technology Transfer Center for Municipalities. The Faculty of Management and Economics prepares strategic plans and concepts for municipalities and cities, the Faculty of Multimedia Communications focuses on creative fields, such as visuals of municipalities or promotional items, the Faculty of Humanities prepares future teachers and non-medical professions (speakers – Assoc. Prof. Adriana Knápková, Ph.D. Vice-Rector for Development of TBU, Ing. Ivana Bartoníková, Director of the Technology Transfer Center of TBU, and Ing. Přemysl Strážnický, Ph.D. Technology Transfer Specialist and Industrial Property Protection Officer also from the Technology Transfer Center).
The meeting was concluded by a block focused on energy purchases at the Czech-Moravian Commodity Exchange Kladno (Bc. Radim Dočekal, FIN-servis, a.s.). Thereafter, a joint lunch followed.
The event offered a space for sharing experiences, establishing contacts and discussing current challenges facing municipalities in the Zlín Region. The event was supported by the CEZ Group, the Zlín Region and the Czech-Moravian Commodity Exchange Kladno.
